Afripods is a podcast platform built to support African creators through podcast hosting, publishing, distribution, audience insights and monetisation opportunities. PEMOLAB works alongside the team to support its ongoing marketing and communication needs through structured creative production.

The overview

Afripods operates at the intersection of technology, media and the creator economy. Its platform supports African podcast creators through hosting, publishing, distribution, audience insights and monetisation opportunities.

As the platform continued developing its presence and communicating with its audience, consistent and professionally executed creative content became an important part of its marketing and communications.

PEMOLAB joined Afripods as a creative partner, providing ongoing graphic design, motion design and campaign support to strengthen the way the platform presents its products, communicates with its community and brings marketing ideas to life. What began with a focused pilot engagement developed into an ongoing creative relationship.

The challenge

For a digital platform operating within a growing creator economy, communication needs are continuous. Product updates, promotional announcements, campaign activities and audience engagement all require creative assets that are timely, recognisable and aligned with the brand.

The challenge was not simply to produce individual graphics or animations. It was to establish a dependable creative production relationship that could support Afripods’ ongoing marketing requirements without requiring the business to manage every design task internally.

  • Consistent graphic design across marketing and communication channels.
  • Motion-led content that makes announcements and product information more engaging.
  • Campaign creative that translates ideas into effective visual communication.
  • Greater consistency across the brand’s digital touchpoints.
  • A reliable workflow for briefs, production, feedback, revisions and delivery.

The objective

Provide Afripods with an accessible, dependable creative partner capable of supporting recurring design and motion requirements. Rather than treating every request as an isolated project, PEMOLAB proposed a structured working relationship that would allow both teams to establish a shared workflow, assess creative compatibility and build towards sustained collaboration.

The intention was to make creative execution more consistent, reduce production bottlenecks and give Afripods access to professional creative expertise as its communication needs evolved.

Our approach

  1. 01

    Start with collaboration, not assumptions

The engagement began with an introduction to Afripods’ creative requirements and an exploration of how PEMOLAB could support its marketing and communication activities. Following a virtual meeting with Molly Jensen, CEO of Afripods, both teams established a structured pilot to assess creative fit, quality, communication, workflow and turnaround.

  2. 02

    Establish a structured creative workflow

The two-week pilot was organised around four graphic design assets and two motion design assets per week. The pilot scope totalled eight graphics and four motion designs. Content categories were based on briefs and priorities agreed with Afripods.

  3. 03

    Build a recurring creative partnership

Following the pilot, the relationship transitioned into ongoing monthly creative support. The monthly content plan and deliverable quantities are agreed according to marketing priorities and production complexity.

  4. 04

    Maintain communication and accountability

Afripods provides briefs, copy, product information, brand assets and feedback. PEMOLAB plans and produces the agreed deliverables while communicating progress, questions and scheduling risks. Both teams work through nominated points of contact and consolidated feedback where possible.

The solution

Graphic design

Social media creatives, promotional graphics, announcements, campaign designs, presentations and other branded marketing materials. The emphasis is on translating information and ideas into clear, recognisable visual communication.

Motion design

Animated graphics, promotional videos, short-form motion content, typography animation and explainer-style assets where required. Movement and visual storytelling provide additional ways to present information, promote activities and communicate the platform proposition.

Campaign creative

Visual concepts and creative assets for announcements, product-related communication and digital campaigns—helping the team move from an idea or brief to a coherent set of creative materials.

Social media and digital content

Creative support for Afripods’ digital communications, helping maintain a consistent visual presence across audience-facing channels and supporting the brand’s wider communication priorities.

The outcome

The engagement established a continuing creative partnership between Afripods and PEMOLAB. Moving beyond a one-off design assignment, the relationship created a structured basis for recurring graphic and motion design support, with an agreed process for planning, briefing, production, feedback and delivery.

  • Ongoing creative capacity

Afripods has access to an external creative partner for recurring graphic and motion design requirements.

  • Defined production workflow

The engagement establishes clear responsibilities for briefing, production, feedback and approvals.

  • Broader creative execution

The partnership supports both static and motion-led content across marketing and communication activities.

  • Flexible campaign support

Creative production can be aligned with changing priorities, content requirements and campaign needs.

  • Continuity

The relationship has progressed beyond its initial pilot into an ongoing working partnership.

Collaboration, creative execution and continuity.

At PEMOLAB, we believe creative work should do more than make a brand look good. It should help businesses explain what they do, communicate their value, build recognition and create stronger connections with the people they serve.

Our collaboration with Afripods reflects this philosophy. By combining graphic design, motion design and campaign creative within an ongoing working relationship, we support a technology-driven media platform with the creative resources needed to communicate consistently as its business evolves.

It is a partnership built around collaboration, creative execution and continuity.
